Budget Dialogue Clean-Up: Most Effective Non-Destructive Strategies?

Posted by Mateo Silva in Post-Production 0 views · 0 replies

Hey everyone, Mateo here. I'm color timing an indie feature shot mostly on an ALEXA Mini, with some B-cam work on an FX3. We've got a really tight budget, which means our dialogue editor's hours are seriously limited. I'm trying to help out where I can by understanding the audio side a bit better.

My question is this: For cleaning up dialogue in a non-destructive way, what are your absolute go-to techniques that give the most bang for your buck? I'm talking about methods that don't rely heavily on super expensive plugins or demand endless tweaking time. We've got a decent understanding of basic tools, but I'm looking for those 'must-do' steps that make a significant improvement without eating up precious hours.

What are your top recommendations for getting clean dialogue under these kinds of budget and time constraints?
