Reference Video/Burn-in "Gotchas" for Sound Sync - Seeking Community Wisdom!
Hey everyone,
I'm Priya Sharma, a colorist, and I've been diving deep into best practices for prepping reference videos for sound and editorial. I've often seen sync issues pop up late in the game, usually when OMFs or AAFs come my way, and it makes me wonder what happened upstream.
For a recent commercial project shot on an ALEXA Mini with audio recorded on an 888, I meticulously ensured frame rates matched and burn-ins included TC and frame count. But even with that, I've heard stories from colleagues about seemingly simple settings causing major headaches. I want to learn from collective experience.
What are some of the most common, insidious 'gotchas' or oversights you've encountered when setting up reference video specs and burn-ins for sound? Particularly the ones that inevitably lead to maddening sync problems down the line for the audio post team?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
