When is SDI backup impractical, and what's the next best alternative?

Hey everyone, I'm currently line producing a live event series with a lot of moving parts. The official guide for these larger shoots always recommends a hard-wired SDI backup for critical cameras, which makes sense for reliability. However, we're shooting in some really dynamic, unscripted environments, think extreme sports where the camera might be mounted on a moving vehicle or quickly repositioned in a chaotic arena. Pulling and managing SDI here feels like it would actually slow us down or introduce more tripping hazards than it solves.

I've been relying heavily on robust wireless systems for monitoring and even some primary feeds, but for that 'bulletproof' backup, what do you guys do when SDI simply isn't feasible? Are there other practical, real-world alternatives you've successfully implemented in fast-paced scenarios that still give you that peace of mind?
