On-Set Look Management Without DIT or High-End Tools?

Hey everyone, Ben Castillo here. I'm hitting a wall on a current project, an indie feature where we're running a V-RAPTOR XL and an ALEXA Mini, but the budget just doesn't stretch to a dedicated DIT or sophisticated live grading setups like Filmbox. I've seen all the amazing things folks are doing with those tools for real-time look management and it sounds incredible for setting expectations.

Right now, I'm trying to guide the director and DP primarily through stills exported from the camera with basic LUTs applied in-camera, or sometimes pulling a quick grade in DaVinci Resolve on my laptop during breaks. It's functional, but it feels clunky and not truly collaborative in the moment. We're aiming for a specific, stylized look, and communicating that effectively on set without the proper tools is proving to be a challenge.

For those of you working on projects with similar constraints, how have you adapted or simplified your on-set look management? What are your go-to strategies or simpler tools for getting everyone on the same page visually when a full DIT setup isn't an option?
