Budget-Friendly Color Suite: Beyond FSI & Advanced Panels?

Hey everyone,

As a script supervisor, I'm often on sets where I see incredible color grading happening, usually on high-end equipment like FSI monitors and Advanced Panels. I'm trying to learn more about color grading myself, mostly to better understand the post-workflow for narrative shorts I produce (shot on things like the ALEXA Mini or C70). I've been experimenting with the free DaVinci Resolve on my home setup.

My current monitor is just a good quality GUI display, which I've calibrated as best I can with an X-Rite Pro. I know this isn't a proper reference monitor, but for someone just starting out and not looking to spend tens of thousands, what are the realistic steps to build a functional, budget-conscious color suite? How can I get the most accurate results possible with tools like the free Resolve and a calibrated GUI, without breaking the bank on FSI or a full panel right off the bat?

Thanks for any advice!
