Streamlining Sound Workflow for One-Man Indie Crews?

Hey everyone, I'm Terrence Cole, a DIT, and a recent experience has me thinking. I was on a super fast-paced indie short, shooting on an FX6 and an ALEXA Mini, bouncing between locations. Usually, my DIT workflow is pretty robust: early arrival for RF scans, checking in with camera, lighting (SkyPanel S60-Cs, M18s), grip, etc., ensuring everything's solid before the day really starts. But I was helping out a friend's shoot as their one-person sound department, with a MixPre-6 II, an MKH 8060, and a couple of lavs. I found myself really struggling to implement anything close to my usual pre-rollout checks. There just wasn't the time or the extra hands. How do you seasoned sound recordists, especially those who often go it alone on truly fast-moving, smaller indie sets, adapt or condense that crucial prep workflow? What are your absolute non-negotiables when you're literally running from one setup to the next?
