8K Sensor with 2x Anamorphic: Post-Production Reframe/Cleanup Workflow?
Hey everyone,
I'm a gaffer working on a narrative short, and I've been really inspired by the flexibility Grieg Fraser seems to get with his larger sensors. We're shooting on an ALEXA 35 with some vintage 2x anamorphic lenses, trying to get a similar large-format feel.
My question is about really leveraging that extra 8K resolution. Beyond just delivering in 4K, how are you all using the additional pixel data in post for reframing or even minor cleanup? With the anamorphic squeeze, especially, I'm thinking about subtle horizon adjustments or object removal that might benefit from that extra information before de-squeezing and final grade.
I've dabbled with similar ideas on a RED KOMODO for a documentary, but never at this scale or with 2x anamorphic. Are there specific editing or finishing techniques you employ to take advantage of that resolution for more than just a sharper image? Is there a common workflow or software method I should be exploring more deeply?
