Iterative Design in Location Scouting: Breaking the Linear Mold?
Hey everyone,
Luis Delgado here, Location Manager. I'm hitting a wall with the traditional 'Scout > Sketch > Build' pipeline, especially on projects with complex set builds or extensive location modifications. It feels so linear, and design changes often come late, causing massive headaches and budget overruns once we're already locked into a location or a set plan.
I've tried generating some early mood boards with AI tools like Midjourney based on script cues, hoping to give the art department a more visual starting point before we even scout. It helps a bit, but we still end up with a pretty fixed vision before I'm out in the field, making it tough to pivot if a fantastic, unexpected location pops up.
I'm curious: How have you folks adapted this linear process, perhaps using AI tools, agile methodologies, or other innovative approaches, to allow for more iterative design decisions and better collaboration during pre-production? Looking for ways to be more flexible without sacrificing clarity.
