Low-Budget Day/Night Flip: Is it REALLY Catastrophic?

I'm Diana Ruiz-Perez, an AD/Producer, currently prepping a short film. We've got this one absolutely crucial location, a diner, and we have to shoot both a daytime conversation and a late-night, intense scene there. The budget is super tight, meaning we realistically only have one full day booked at this location.

All the AD advice I've ever gotten, every general 'guide' out there, screams about how day/night flips are the absolute worst thing you can do to your schedule, a guaranteed way to go over. And I get it, crew exhaustion, turnaround issues, lighting changes, the whole nine yards.

But what do you actually do when you're in a situation like this on a micro-budget, where an extra day at this specific location simply isn't an option? Do you really have to compromise one of the scenes? Or are there practical, real-world strategies for tackling this beast without completely ruining the schedule and the crew? Any battle-tested advice would be amazing.
