Budgeting: Micro-budget vs. Studio Feature - What changes?

Sam here, been booming for a while now, mostly on indies and short form. I'm trying to wrap my head around project planning more thoroughly beyond just my department. Specifically, I'm curious about budgeting.

When you're putting together the numbers for a micro-budget film, say under $100k, compared to a multi-million dollar studio feature, how fundamentally do your budgeting strategies differ? On smaller projects, it feels like it's all about cutting every corner and making miracles happen with minimal resources. I've tried to apply some of those lean principles to hypothetical larger scales, but it just doesn't feel right. It seems like the entire philosophy must shift.

Are you looking at entirely different categories of spending? Does the risk assessment change your approach to contingency and insurance? What are the core differences in your approach to allocating funds when the scale shifts so dramatically?
