1st AC (First Assistant Camera) - Short Film
Seeking a dedicated 1st AC for an upcoming independent short film, a psychological thriller with strong dramatic elements, exploring themes of memory and reality. We're aiming for a dark, intimate visual style, which means precise focus pulling will be critical in creating the right tension and mood. Your primary responsibility will be managing camera focus, maintaining lens cleanliness, and assisting with camera builds and breakdowns. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone looking to gain experience on a narrative set and work closely with the camera department. We're a small, passionate crew, so a positive attitude and willingness to jump in where needed are highly valued. Ideally, you'll have some basic experience with camera assisting roles, even if it's just student film work, and a general understanding of camera systems (we'll be shooting on a Blackmagic Pocket 6K Pro). A basic reel or a list of projects you've worked on is helpful. Gear is provided, but if you have a follow focus unit or other useful AC tools, let us know, as that's always a plus. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late July/early August, over 3-4 days in the New Orleans area, likely weekend heavy. Days will be 10-12 hours. Compensation is credit and meals, a great chance to build your resume and network on a compelling project.
