Camera for Short Film

Hey filmmakers, we're looking for a seasoned Camera Operator for an upcoming independent sci-fi short film. This is a gritty, character-driven story exploring themes of survival and isolation in a near-future dystopia, with some intense action sequences that will require a skilled hand. We're aiming for a dark, atmospheric visual style, inspired by films like 'Children of Men' and 'Blade Runner 2049'. As our Camera Operator, you'll be working closely with the DP to execute their vision, operating a variety of camera moves from subtle handheld to dynamic steadicam (if applicable to your skill set). Key responsibilities include precise framing, focus pulling when necessary, and maintaining fluid camera motion throughout takes. This is a senior role, so we're seeking someone with extensive experience on narrative projects. Applicants should have their own camera package (minimum Super 35 sensor, preferably Blackmagic, RED, or ARRI with a capable lens kit) and relevant support gear (monitor, follow focus, matte box). A strong reel showcasing your operational skills is a must. Flexibility and a collaborative spirit are also essential for this lean, passionate crew. Shoot dates are tentatively set for 5-7 days spread over late July/early August in the LA area, likely 10-12 hour days. We'll provide craft services and meals on set.
