Senior VFX Artist, Documentary (Deferred)
Looking for an experienced Senior VFX Artist to join our independent documentary project. This is a powerful, character-driven piece exploring the impacts of climate change on remote communities, with a visual style that blends raw observational footage with artful, impactful VFX to really drive home the story. We need someone who can help us visualize complex data, create subtle environmental augmentations, and handle necessary clean-up work, all while maintaining a grounded, non-flashy aesthetic. Your main responsibilities will include working closely with the director and editor to conceptualize and execute a variety of visual effects shots, including data visualization graphics, atmospheric enhancements (like smoke or mist integration), and meticulous compositing for screen replacements or object removal. You'll need a strong reel demonstrating sophisticated 2D and 3D VFX work, ideally with experience in documentary or a similar non-fiction style. Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Nuke, After Effects, Mocha) is essential. We're looking for someone who can work independently and solve problems creatively, contributing their artistic vision while respecting the integrity of the real-world narrative. This is a deferred compensation position (points + deferred cash payment upon release/sales). While the project timeline is flexible, we anticipate primary VFX work will commence in late summer/early fall. You can work remotely, although Los Angeles based candidates are a plus for occasional in-person meetings. We're a small, passionate team dedicated to making a significant impact with this film. Let's make something powerful together.
