Art Department for Documentary
Hey everyone, I'm Lucas, a Gaffer based in Toronto. I'm helping out a friend who's directing an independent documentary feature and we're looking to bring on a talented Art Assistant/Coordinator. This project explores the fascinating world of urban foraging and sustainable living, blending intimate interviews with visually rich explorations of Toronto's hidden edible landscapes. It's got a really thoughtful, engaging tone and promises to be quite beautiful. We need someone to assist the Production Designer with sourcing props, managing set decoration, and coordinating logistics for various art elements. This will involve some research, prop pickups, and on-set organization. Your keen eye for detail and ability to work creatively within a budget are key. We're looking for someone with mid-level experience in art departments, preferably with some documentary or indie film background. You'll need to have access to a vehicle for prop runs (mileage will be reimbursed) and a portfolio or reel showcasing your aesthetic and organizational skills would be a huge plus. Shoot dates are approximately late spring/early summer, with some prep work starting in April. This is a deferred compensation project (points + deferred payment upon sale), common for independent productions, but we're committed to making it a valuable experience. We'll provide craft services and any necessary tools or materials. Looking forward to hearing from you!
