Art Department for Short Film

Hey everyone, Nelson here. We're looking to bring on a talented and experienced Art Director for an upcoming independent short film in New York. This is a gritty, character-driven sci-fi piece that leans into a really unique, understated cyberpunk aesthetic (think 'Blade Runner' meets 'High Life's' practical design). We've got some cool, visually impactful sequences planned and need someone who can help bring that vision to life practically and efficiently. As our Art Director, you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the art department, from concepting and design to set dressing, props, and overall visual continuity. You'll be working closely with the director and DP to make sure our world feels authentic and lived-in. We're looking for someone with a strong portfolio showcasing previous Art Director or Production Designer roles on narrative projects, ideally with some experience in sci-fi or a similar genre. Please include a link to your reel or online portfolio. Shoot dates are provisionally set for late July (approx. 5-7 days of principal photography), with pre-production work starting around mid-June. We're anticipating 10-12 hour days. We'll provide a dedicated art department budget and a small team to support you. This is a paid position, $500-800/day, depending on experience.
