Senior VFX Artist, Doc

Documentary VFX Montreal, QC senior Budget: $1000-1500/day

Looking for a seasoned Senior VFX Artist for an upcoming independent documentary project based in Montreal. We're telling a powerful story about environmental preservation, and while it's largely observational, there are several key sequences that require compelling visual effects to illustrate complex scientific concepts and past events. Think subtle enhancements, environmental reconstructions, and some historical overlays nothing too flashy, but crucial for clarity and impact. You'll be responsible for supervising and executing all VFX shots, from conceptualization and pre-visualization through to final compositing. We're seeking someone with extensive experience in documentary or realistic VFX work, a keen eye for detail, and a strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to integrate effects into live-action footage. Expertise in industry-standard software (e.g., Nuke, After Effects, Maya, Houdini) is a must. This is a senior-level position, requiring you to be largely self-sufficient and capable of managing the VFX pipeline. We don't expect you to provide your own extensive hardware/software setup, as we'll arrange for necessary resources, but familiarity with various pipelines is valuable. Shoot dates are TBD, likely Fall 2024, with post-production extending into early 2025. Days will typically be 10-12 hours during crunch times. Please send your reel and CV. Rates are $1000-1500/day, depending on experience and scope of work.
