Senior Editor, Documentary Feature (Deferred Comp)

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Editor for an impactful, character-driven documentary feature currently in production. This independent production explores the human spirit in challenging environments, with a tone that balances gritty realism with profound hope. We have compelling footage that needs a narrative architect, someone who can find the story within the hours of material. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the director to shape the narrative, assemble compelling sequences, manage media, and deliver a polished final cut. You'll be instrumental in crafting the film's pacing, tone, and emotional arc, ensuring a powerful viewer experience. We need someone with extensive experience cutting feature-length documentaries, a strong storytelling sensibility, and a proven ability to work independently. A reel demonstrating your narrative skills is essential. Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro is required. This position is for an estimated 10-12 week commitment, starting in late September in our Los Angeles editing suite. While this is a deferred compensation role with backend participation, it's an opportunity to contribute to a significant project with festival potential.
