Gaffer for Sci-Fi Drama Short Film

This is a compelling, independent sci-fi drama short film, exploring themes of connection and loss in a near-future, low-tech world. We're looking for a talented Gaffer to help bring its unique visual tone, a blend of grounded realism with subtle sci-fi elements, to life. Your creativity with lighting will be crucial in establishing the mood for key scenes. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the DP and director to execute the lighting plan, leading a small electric team, managing lighting equipment, and ensuring safe power distribution on set. We're seeking someone with experience gaffing narrative shorts or similar projects. You should be familiar with various lighting fixtures, power distribution, and safety protocols. Please provide a reel or portfolio showcasing your best work in lighting. This is an Atlanta-based production. We anticipate a 3-day shoot during the second half of September 2026, with 1-2 days of prep and gear check needed beforehand. Shoot days will likely be 10-12 hours. Compensation is $200-400 per day, depending on experience. We'll provide all necessary lighting and grip gear, though familiarity with industry-standard packages is a plus. Meals and craft services will be provided on set.
