Gaffer for Supernatural Horror Short

Short Film Production New Orleans, LA senior Budget: Credit + meals

A chilling supernatural horror short, set in a historic New Orleans home, needs a Gaffer for an upcoming independent production. This project aims for a dark, atmospheric tone with unsettling practical effects, exploring themes of generational trauma and psychological dread. We're looking for a Gaffer who can help us craft a moody, high-contrast visual style that enhances the suspense and character isolation. Key responsibilities include designing and executing lighting setups, managing all lighting equipment, and working closely with the Director of Photography to achieve the desired aesthetic. You will oversee lighting crew and ensure safety on set. We require someone with senior level gaffing experience on narrative shorts or features, a strong portfolio of work demonstrating dramatic lighting, and a familiarity with various lighting fixtures and techniques. Ideally, you can provide some of your own essential grip and electric gear. This is a volunteer position offering credit, meals, and an opportunity to collaborate on a compelling, character-driven horror piece. We anticipate a 2-day shoot around November 12, 2026, with some prep days beforehand. Hours will be typical 10-12 hour days. A small production company will provide remaining necessary equipment and craft services. Send your resume and a reel or portfolio link. We'd like to make a decision by November 13, 2026.
