Production Designer, Chicago Short Film

Hey everyone, Marcus here. I'm putting together a short film in Chicago and am looking for a talented Production Designer to join our team. It's a psychological drama, pretty atmospheric, with a slightly surreal edge. We're aiming for a strong visual style to really elevate the emotional impact of the story. Think subtle details that tell a bigger story, rather than anything over the top. As our Production Designer, you'll be responsible for developing the overall visual concept, designing and sourcing props and set dressings, and ensuring everything aligns with the director's vision. We'll need someone who can work resourcefully, transforming ordinary locations into something special. Crafting mood boards, prop lists, and set sketches will be key here. We're looking for someone with around 3-5 years of experience in art direction or production design, ideally with some short film credits under their belt. A strong portfolio or reel showcasing your design sensibilities is essential. You don't need to bring your own tools, we'll cover materials and any necessary rentals. The shoot is currently slated for late September, early October, aiming for 3-4 shoot days, 10-12 hours per day. This is a paid position, $100-200 per day, depending on experience.
