Dialogue Consistency: Workflow for Matching Takes & Mics?
Hey everyone, as a UPM, I'm constantly learning about the finer points of post-production sound, especially with dialogue. I'm currently running a narrative short shot mostly on an AMIRA with a MixPre-6 II on sound and we used a combination of 4017 boom mics and 6060 lavaliers. The guide talks a lot about 'matching' dialogue between takes and different mics, and honestly, I'm a bit stumped on how to implement that effectively in practice. We had varying room tones and sometimes different mics on the same actor across takes. I’ve been trying to keep detailed sound reports, but when it comes to the actual organization and process for ensuring consistent dialogue sound, I feel like I'm missing something. For those of you who've implemented these techniques, what does your personal workflow look like for ensuring consistent dialogue sound, especially when mixing different mics and takes? Any unique file management or labeling systems you swear by?
