Loudness & Compliance: Beginner Pitfalls Beyond 'Too Loud/Quiet'?
Hey everyone,
Sam here, boom op currently on an indie feature, primarily running the 4017 and 888. Feeling like I'm finally getting my head around levels on set, but I know the post-production world of loudness and compliance is a whole other beast. We're delivering to a platform that's pretty strict, and I want to make sure I'm thinking ahead.
For those of us still learning the ropes, what are some of the most common 'Loudness and Compliance' mistakes you've seen beginners make that lead to rejections or frustrating revisions? Beyond just being 'too quiet, too loud,' what are the subtle pitfalls or oversights that really trip people up when it comes to audio delivery standards? I’ve been trying to keep dialogue consistent but wonder about effects or music. Any insights would be hugely appreciated.
