First-time filmmaker insurance pitfalls: Which is most common & how to avoid?

Hey everyone,

I'm diving into pre-production for a short narrative piece, my first time really handling all the backend stuff myself instead of just getting the footage (usually I'm just editing on my ALEXA Mini). I'm seeing a lot of warnings about insurance, specifically things like underinsuring General Liability or misclassifying workers for Workers' Comp. It's a bit overwhelming to be honest.

I'm trying to make sure I cover all my bases, especially with a small crew and limited budget.

From your experience, which of these common insurance mistakes do first-time filmmakers most frequently fall into? And, more importantly, what's the single most impactful, practical step someone like me can take to absolutely avoid making that specific mistake?
