Voice AI for ADR: How are you planning and budgeting now?
Hey everyone, I'm Isabella, a Line Producer currently working on an indie drama shot mostly on a V-RAPTOR XL. We've got a few scenes with some pretty significant ADR needs, think busy street exteriors where even the MKH 416 picked up too much bleed. Historically, this means studio time for the actors, travel, the whole nine yards.
I've been hearing a lot about tools like ElevenLabs and their ability to generate actor voice clones for ADR. This is genuinely new territory for me. I'm wondering if anyone out there has actually incorporated this into their workflow. How has it impacted your approach to planning those ADR days? And more critically for my role, how are you budgeting for it? Are you seeing significant savings that you can reallocate? Or is it more efficient but still a dedicated line item? I've been assuming we'd still need traditional ADR, but this technology feels like it could be a game-changer. Any insights would be hugely appreciated.
