Solo Sound Mixer: Adapting Comprehensive Workflow for Fast-Paced Indie Sets?

Hey fellow mixers,

I'm finding myself increasingly working as a one-person sound department on indie narrative features (think a C300 Mark III or FX3, often with some PavoTube II 30X lights). The workflows I've learned, particularly regarding comprehensive RF scans, meticulous checks with lighting, camera, and grip, and generally getting there super early to handle everything, are fantastic for larger crews.

However, when I'm on a super fast-moving indie set, often with limited prep time and an expectation to just 'get sound,' I struggle to implement that full, ideal workflow without feeling like I'm holding up production. I still need to get clean audio, manage my 4017 boom and often three 6060 lavaliers, and keep an eye on RF. But a full department-by-department check sometimes feels impossible.

What are your go-to strategies or condensed workflows for solo sound mixing on indie sets to ensure quality control without sacrificing precious production time? How do you prioritize?
