Script Supes: Dialogue 'Cleaning' and 'Matching' Pitfalls for Beginners?

Posted by Megan Foster in Post-Production 0 views · 0 replies

Hey everyone,

I'm Megan Foster, a script supervisor currently working on a short passion project shot on an ALEXA Mini, and I'm really trying to dial in my workflow, especially when it comes to dialogue. I’ve been feeling the pressure recently to ensure everything is absolutely airtight for post-production.

Thinking back to when you were starting out, what were some of the most common mistakes you made, especially concerning 'cleaning' and 'matching' dialogue? I'm talking about things like ensuring line accuracy, noting pickups, and handling ADR flags, or even misinterpreting director notes that lead to continuity headaches later. This is definitely where I feel most vulnerable right now, trying to make sure I'm not missing anything crucial.

What's one piece of advice you'd give a beginner to avoid those specific pitfalls in dialogue continuity and reporting? I'm eager to learn from your experiences.
