Video Village on a Shoestring Budget for Shorts - Prioritizing Gear

Hey everyone, as a boom op, I'm used to seeing the full video village setup on bigger sets. I'm currently producing a micro-budget short film with some friends, and we're trying to figure out where to put our very limited funds. We know how useful a video village is for everyone, from director to scripty, but our budget for that is tiny, honestly, we can probably only afford one or maybe two key items. We're talking phone monitors with maybe a decent wireless TX/RX, or an actual monitor but no wireless, etc.

I've seen general advice about scaling up from indie to studio, but that doesn't really address the 'one or two items, bare minimum' scenario. How do you all approach this? What would be your absolute top priorities for just one or two items to get something resembling a video village going on a micro-budget short? What gives the most bang for your buck in that very specific, limited situation?
