Value Lens for Under $500? (Non-Kit Lens)

Hey everyone, Jordan here. I'm an aerial DP, usually flying larger glass on an ALEXA Mini LF or an ALEXA 35. However, I'm working on a passion project right now, an indie documentary where I'm operating a C70 handheld to keep things nimble and discreet. I want something better than the typical kit lens that comes with these smaller cameras. I'm trying to keep the budget tight, and the guides always stress not skimping on glass, even entry-level. I don't need cinema primes, just something that punches above its weight. What's a specific prime or zoom lens you'd recommend, under $500, that offers significantly more value and image quality than a standard kit lens for this kind of run-and-gun documentary work?
