Early Career Media Management Fails: Your Most Cringeworthy Mistakes?

Posted by Tyler Morrison in Cinematography 0 views · 2 replies

Hey everyone, Tyler Morrison here. I'm working on a docu-style project right now, shooting mostly on an ALEXA Mini with a couple of Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2s for specific shots. We're using a pretty robust backup system with multiple drives and checksum verification, but it's got me thinking back to when I was starting out.

I feel like media management is one of those things you learn the hard way, often through sheer panic. I've had a few close calls myself that still make me cringe, mostly around sloppy folder structures or forgetting a second backup. It makes me wonder, if there had been a perfect 'Media Management 101' guide back then, what's the one truly cringeworthy mistake you made related to checksums, folder organization, or backups that it could have saved you from? Share your cautionary tales!
