Iterative Location Design: Breaking the Linear Scout-Sketch-Build?

Hey everyone, it's Sofia. I'm currently scouting for a sci-fi series with a really ambitious world, and I'm finding our traditional 'scout locations, then concept artists sketch, then set builders build' pipeline is creating bottlenecks. We're getting quite far down the road before realizing a location's exact dimensions or unique features don't quite mesh with an evolving design idea.

I've tried pushing for more detailed preliminary sketches before scouting, but that feels like putting the cart before the horse. I'm wondering if anyone has successfully incorporated more iterative design loops into their pre-production? Have you used AI tools for rapid visualization or maybe adopted agile methodologies to refine location choices and set designs simultaneously? I'm looking for ways to allow more flexibility and adaptation without completely blowing the schedule.
