Streamlining QC & Naming for Fast-Turnaround Gigs (Line Producer seeking advice)
Hey fellow producers,
I'm finding myself at a bit of a crossroads with QC and file naming. Our internal guide has a very robust, multi-stage QC process and pretty rigid file naming conventions, which is fantastic for larger commercial spots, say, with our V-RAPTOR XL and a full suite of Titan Tubes.
However, for the smaller, quicker-turnaround corporate videos or social media shoots (often shot on a C70 or even an AMIRA if it's available) that comprehensive process feels like overkill. We're talking 2-3 day turnarounds sometimes, and going through every single step of the formal QC or renaming every single b-roll clip to our max length spec just eats up precious hours.
I've tried a 'priority QC' checklist focusing on deliverables spec and audio sync (especially critical with our MKH 416s), and a more abbreviated naming scheme for raw footage. It's working okay, but I'm worried I'm missing something critical.
How have you all successfully adapted or simplified your formal QC processes and file naming conventions for these smaller, faster-paced projects without compromising essential quality?
