Digital Workflow, On-Set LUTs, and Consistency (Film vs. Digital)

I'm Sarah, a DP primarily working in narrative features and high-end commercials. We're currently in prep for a project shooting on an ALEXA 35 and aiming for a really specific, film-like texture, which has me thinking a lot about consistency from set to post.

Back when I started, consistency meant diligent neg reports, lab timing, and test prints. Now, with our DIT generating on-set LUTs and managing large format files (we're considering some IMAX sequences), the workflow is entirely different. I'm trying to get a handle on how this shift impacts maintaining a consistent visual through-line, especially when dealing with high-res files and multiple looks.

My DIT is fantastic, and we're building some robust CDLs and show LUTs. But I'm genuinely curious: for those of you who've worked extensively in both film and digital, how has the widespread adoption of digital workflows and high-resolution capture fundamentally changed your process for maintaining visual consistency, particularly concerning on-set LUTs and large formats, compared to the film era?
