Logline Patterns: Workflow Integration - Pick First or Organic?

Hey everyone,

I'm Marcus Johnson, a working Director/Writer, and I've been really digging into how to craft more effective loglines lately. There’s a lot of great material out there, and I’ve found these 20 'patterns' for loglines incredibly insightful, they really break down the structure of what makes a compelling hook.

Now, for those of you who've been in the trenches for a while, I’m genuinely curious about your process here. How have you integrated these kinds of logline patterns into your personal screenwriting workflow? Do you actively pick a specific pattern during the ideation phase, almost using it as a skeletal guide for your story, or does the 'best fit' pattern for your logline tend to emerge organically after the main plot points are more or less solidified?

I've tried both ways, sometimes trying to force a pattern early on, sometimes waiting until I have a rough draft. Just seeking some wisdom on what's worked best for you.
