Micro-Budget Pitch: How to Make a Lean Project Look Attractive on Paper?

Hey everyone,

I'm Ji-Hoon Baek, a VFX Supervisor, and I'm wrestling with a common but tricky problem. I'm trying to put together a One-Page Pitch for a personal project (a sci-fi short film) that's essentially micro-budget, practically zero-budget. Think passion project, where every dollar counts... or doesn't exist, as the case may be.

My biggest challenge is conveying a compelling vision and genuine production value when the reality is that we'll be relying heavily on clever filmmaking, digital matte painting, and a lot of goodwill. I've tried focusing on the story and the unique visual concepts, but I worry it still reads as 'ambitious but cheap' rather than 'innovative and efficient'.

How do you effectively communicate a strong visual and narrative concept on paper, to potential investors (even small ones), when you're working with these kinds of severe limitations? What are some creative ways to make a lean project look attractive and viable, rather than just aspirational?
