Production Designer, Sci-Fi Thriller Feature Film

Hey everyone, Mei-Lin here. We're on the hunt for an experienced Production Designer for an upcoming independent feature film, a suspenseful sci-fi thriller with a dark, atmospheric tone. Think less flashy CGI, more practical effects and gritty realism. We're aiming to build a truly immersive world on a lean budget, so creativity and resourcefulness are key. If you love world-building through set dressing and prop sourcing, this is for you. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the director on the visual style, creating detailed set designs, overseeing construction and decoration, and managing the art department budget. We'll need someone with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of styles, ideally with some experience on feature films or similar longer-form projects. You'll be working closely with a small but dedicated team. Please provide a link to your online portfolio or reel with your application. Shoot dates are approximately late Fall 2024 to early Winter 2025 in Toronto, spanning about 5-6 weeks. Specific hours will vary depending on the shoot schedule, but expect typical long production days. We'll provide all necessary construction materials and a dedicated art department workspace.
