Production Design for Feature Film

Hey everyone, Elena here. We’re gearing up for an independent production, a feature film with a darkly comedic tone exploring the absurdities of modern life. Think early Coen Brothers meets 'Little Miss Sunshine' but with a New York City edge. We're looking for a sharp Production Designer to help us bring this quirky world to life. Your main gig will be designing and sourcing sets and props, creating mood boards, and working closely with the director and DP to establish the film's visual language. We need someone who can be resourceful and creative within a limited budget, making a big impact with clever design choices. You'll also be managing a small art department team, so good communication and leadership skills are a must. We’re not expecting you to own a full warehouse of props, but knowing where to find great rentals or how to DIY effectively will be huge. Ideal candidates will have 2-4 years of experience as a Production Designer or Art Director on independent features or shorts, and a strong portfolio demonstrating your aesthetic sensibility. Please include a link to your reel or online portfolio when you respond. Our shoot is tentatively scheduled for 18-20 days sometime in late spring, early summer. Typical shooting days will be 10-12 hours. We'll provide a small art department budget, transportation for larger props, and meals on set.
