1st AC for Indie Sci-Fi Short (Entry-Level)
Hey filmmakers, Trent here (I'm a Dolly Grip usually, but helping out with this). We're looking for an enthusiastic 1st Assistant Camera for an upcoming short sci-fi film shooting in Los Angeles. This isn't your typical space opera, it's more of a grounded, psychological sci-fi with a moody, atmospheric tone. Think less lasers, more mind-bending concepts. It's a really cool script and we're aiming for a strong festival run. As 1st AC, you'll be handling focus pulling, lens changes, and general camera prep/maintenance on set. We're looking for someone who's super organized, has a good eye for detail, and is eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced indie environment. This is an entry-level position, so if you've got some experience from student films or smaller projects, that's great. A basic understanding of camera systems (likely a Red or अरri, TBD) is helpful. Please have your own basic focus pulling tools (tape measure, marks) ready to go. A link to your reel (if you have one, even if it's just student work) or any past relevant experience is appreciated. Shoot dates are approximately 3-4 days in late May or early June, exact dates TBD based on crew availability. Days will likely be 10-12 hours. We'll be providing meals and craft services on set. This is a passion project, so compensation will be TBD, but we're committed to making it a positive and rewarding experience for everyone involved. Let's make something awesome together!
