Gaffer (Mid-Level) for Documentary
Hey everyone, Ricky here. I'm putting out feelers for a solid Gaffer for an upcoming independent documentary project. We're tackling a fascinating human interest story, exploring a niche subculture with a really intimate, character-driven approach. It's got a raw, authentic tone that we're aiming to capture beautifully, so lighting is key to setting that mood without feeling intrusive. We'll be working a lot with natural light, but expect to enhance and shape it creatively for interviews and specific dramatic moments. Your main gig will be designing and executing lighting setups, managing the grip and electric package, and working closely with the Cinematographer to achieve their vision. You'll need to have your own basic G&E kit (stands, stingers, flags, small fixtures) or access to one. We're looking for someone with around 3-5 years of experience, preferably with documentary work under their belt, who can adapt quickly to different locations. Please send over your reel or a link to your work. Our shoot dates are currently penciled in for late July/early August, typically 10-hour days. We'll provide lunch and refreshments on set, of course.
