Gaffer for Sci-Fi Pilot

Pilot Production Vancouver, BC entry Budget: Backend percentage

Hey everyone, Chris here. I'm a Grip, and I'm currently working on a seriously cool sci-fi pilot we're shooting in Vancouver. We're on the hunt for a Gaffer to lead our lighting department. This project has a really exciting, grimy, futuristic noir vibe, lots of practical lights and some trippy visual effects, so we need someone creative who loves to experiment. Your main gig will be to collaborate with the DP on lighting design, set up and manage all the electrical gear, and supervise the lighting crew. Basically, you'll be making everything look awesome and safe. Ideally, you'll have experience gaffing on independent productions, especially anything with a bit of a genre twist. A solid understanding of various lighting techniques, power distribution, and safety protocols is a must. If you have your own basic lighting kit, that's a huge plus, but we'll have a package coming in either way. A reel or portfolio showing off your work would be great to see. Shoot dates are looking like late July, early August, roughly 3-4 days. Longish days, as it's a pilot, but nothing crazy. We'll provide meals and transport to set. This is a passion project for a small production company, so compensation is deferred, backend percentage. It's a chance to get in on the ground floor with some really talented folks. Let's make some magic!
