Location Scout/Manager, LA Doc (Volunteer)

Hey everyone, Ricky here (Playback Op). I'm putting together an independent documentary focused on the underground music scene in LA, specifically tracking the rise of a new experimental artist. It's got a raw, vérité feel, exploring the challenges and triumphs of independent artistry. We're looking for a dedicated Location Scout/Manager to help us find and secure compelling, authentic locations that really embody the spirit of this scene. Think intimate performance spaces, unique rehearsal studios, artists' living spaces, and interesting urban backdrops. Your main responsibilities will involve location research, outreach to property owners, negotiating access, and coordinating logistics for our shoots. This is a mid-level role, so we need someone with some prior experience scouting for film or video projects in Los Angeles. Strong communication and organizational skills are key. No specific gear required from you, just your hustle and a good eye. Please share any relevant experience or a portfolio of locations you've secured. We anticipate shooting intermittently over approximately 6-8 weeks, starting in late Spring. This is a volunteer position, but credit will be provided, and all meals during shoot days will be covered. Looking forward to hearing from you!
