Assistant Editor, Doc Series (Auckland, Volunteer)

Documentary Post-Production Auckland, NZ entry Budget: Credit + meals

Auckland, New Zealand. We're gearing up for an intensive post-production phase starting in September 2026 for an independent documentary series and are looking for a dedicated Assistant Editor to join our small, passionate team. This project delves into the untold stories of local environmental conservation efforts, aiming for a hopeful, inspiring, and authentic tone. It's a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a meaningful story. Your primary responsibilities will include organizing and logging footage, creating string-outs, performing basic cuts, syncing audio, and managing media assets within our editing software. You'll work closely with the lead editor, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This is an entry-level, volunteer position, perfect for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in documentary post-production. While no specific gear is required, familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro is a must. Please share any relevant work, even student projects, as part of your application. We anticipate about 6-8 weeks of work, potentially 20-30 hours per week, depending on the phase. Meals will be provided during work days, and of course, full screen credit will be given.
