Assistant Editor, Feature Narrative, Entry-Level

Hey filmmakers, I'm Rachel, a documentary editor, looking to bring on an Assistant Editor for an exciting independent feature film. This is an intimate, character driven drama, focusing on family dynamics and tough choices, with a really unique tone that blends moments of levity with deep emotional beats. It's truly a passion project for everyone involved. As our Assistant Editor, you'll be crucial to keeping our post-production running smoothly. Your main tasks will include organizing footage, syncing audio, creating dailies, managing proxies, and preparing sequences for the editor. You'll also assist with various other post-related tasks as needed, learning a ton about the editorial process along the way. This is an entry-level position, so we're not expecting years of experience. We're looking for someone who is detail oriented, proactive, and eager to learn. Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro is a must. If you have any experience with managing project files or post asset organization, please highlight that. A reel or examples of any prior editing (even student films or short form content) would be great, but not required if you're just starting out. The project is based in Brooklyn, NY. We anticipate post-production to begin in late summer or early fall, and we'll establish a flexible weekly schedule. Compensation for this role will be discussed directly based on experience. We're a small, supportive team and excited to collaborate with a new talent!
