Assistant Editor, Feature Film (Chicago)

Hey Chicago film community, I'm an Animator working on an independent feature film and we're looking for an Assistant Editor to join our post-production team. This is a gritty, character-driven drama with elements of a psychological thriller, exploring themes of urban isolation and redemption. It's a really compelling story that we're excited to bring to life. As our Assistant Editor, you'll be primarily responsible for ingesting and organizing footage, creating dailies, syncing audio, managing media, and preparing sequences for our lead editor. You'll also assist with basic cuts, sound design, and visual effects assembly as needed, so a good eye for storytelling and technical proficiency are both valuable. We're open to all experience levels, from recent grads with strong organizational skills to more seasoned professionals looking for a new challenge. Ideally, you'll have experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and a basic understanding of post-production workflows. While we have editing suites available, having your own reliable workstation and software is a plus. We'll be working out of a dedicated post facility in Chicago. This is a paid position at $250 per day, flat rate. Post-production is expected to run for approximately 6-8 weeks, with flexible hours that we can discuss. We'll provide all necessary project files and support.
