NY Doc Camera Op, Entry Level, $500-800/day

Documentary Cinematography New York, NY entry Budget: $500-800/day

Hey filmmakers, I'm a scenic painter on an independent documentary project here in New York, and we're on the hunt for a talented entry-level Camera Operator. This doc explores the vibrant street art scene in NYC, focusing on the stories behind some iconic murals and artists. It's a gritty, authentic look at creativity in the urban environment, with a strong visual storytelling element. We're looking for someone with a sharp eye for composition and a passion for documentary work. You'll be responsible for operating our cameras, capturing interviews, B-roll, and candid moments, often in run-and-gun situations. We need someone who can work efficiently and adapt quickly. You should have your own camera package, preferably a mirrorless or DSLR setup capable of shooting high-quality video, along with basic lighting and audio gear. Please have a reel demonstrating your visual style and ability, even if it's primarily short films or experimental work. Approximate shoot dates are spread out over a few weeks in late spring, with an average of 10-12 hour days. We'll provide transportation to locations if needed and cover location fees. This is a great opportunity to gain experience on a compelling project with a supportive crew.
