Gaffer (Senior) - Sci-Fi Thriller Short

Hey everyone, I'm Trent, a dolly grip assembling a team for an independent short film shooting in Los Angeles. We're developing a gritty sci-fi thriller about a lone astronaut discovering a sinister truth on an abandoned space station. Think atmospheric tension, practical effects where possible, and strong visual storytelling. We're looking for a senior Gaffer to join our crew. Your primary responsibilities will include designing and executing the lighting plan, working closely with our DP to achieve the desired mood and and managing the lighting crew. We're looking for someone with significant experience on narrative shorts or features, a strong portfolio showcasing diverse lighting setups, and a deep understanding of Grip and Electric principles. Proficiency with various lighting instruments, practicals, and power distribution is a must. Knowing how to maximize impact with a limited budget is key for this kind of project. Gear wise, we'll have a basic G&E package, but your expertise in optimizing it and supplementing as needed will be crucial. Shoot dates are TBD but looking at late July for approximately 3-4 days, likely long days but we'll try to keep them manageable.
