Camera for Documentary

Seeking an experienced or emerging Camera Operator for an upcoming independent documentary project in New Orleans. This film explores the vibrant, often unseen, subcultures of the city, focusing on personal stories and unique local traditions with a raw, authentic tone. We need someone who can capture the heart of a moment, adapt quickly to changing environments, and work efficiently within a small, dedicated crew. Your primary responsibility will be operating our primary camera, ensuring high-quality, stable, and emotionally resonant footage. This includes setting up shots, managing camera movement, and collaborating with the director on visual storytelling. We are looking for someone with a good eye for composition and natural light. You should have your own camera package (ideally something capable of cinematic quality like a Blackmagic Pocket 6K Pro, Sony FX3/FX6, or similar, with a basic lens kit and support) and any necessary accessories for run-and-gun documentary shooting. Please include a link to your reel or relevant work demonstrating your operating skills. This is a paid position at $100-200/day, depending on experience and gear provided. Shoot dates are approximate, but we anticipate about 1-2 weeks of work during the first half of November 2026, with 10-12 hour days. Production will provide transportation within New Orleans, meals during shoot days, and any specialized equipment not part of your standard kit. This is a great opportunity for any experience level to contribute significantly to a compelling local story.
