Cinematography for Short Film
Hey Vancouver crew, I'm a VFX Compositor working on an exciting independent short film and we're looking for a Gaffer to join our team. This is a gritty, character-driven sci-fi thriller, think 'District 9' meets 'Sicario', with a heavy emphasis on practical lighting to convey atmosphere and tension. We have some really cool visual effects planned, and good lighting will be crucial to getting that rich, cinematic look. You'll be responsible for executing the cinematographer's vision, setting up and maintaining all lighting equipment, and working closely with grip and electric. We're looking for someone with entry-level experience, perhaps as a Best Boy Electric or someone who has gaffed a few student or micro-budget projects. You'll need to know your way around various lighting setups, distribution, and safety protocols. Please have a reel or a portfolio showcasing your work, even if it's from passion projects. We're aiming to shoot late August, early September, likely 3-4 days total. We'll provide all necessary lighting gear and transportation to set. This is a deferred compensation role, with a backend percentage offered once the film is acquired. It's a great opportunity to gain experience on a compelling project that will definitely make a splash at festivals.
