Mid-Level Colorist, Documentary Feature
Hey everyone, Nelson here. We're looking for a talented mid-level Colorist for an upcoming independent documentary feature based in New York City. This film dives into the vibrant, often unseen subcultures of urban art, exploring the passion and grit behind groundbreaking public installations. It's a visually rich project with a raw, authentic feel, and we need someone who can enhance that aesthetic, bringing out the textures and moods without over-stylizing. Your main responsibilities will include working closely with the director to establish a consistent color grading the entire feature, and delivering final masters in various formats. We're looking for someone with at least 3-5 years of experience coloring long-form documentaries or narrative features. You should have your own calibrated grading suite (hardware and software, like DaVinci Resolve Studio) and a strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to handle diverse footage types and achieve organic, naturalistic looks. Please submit a reel showcasing your best doc work. Projected schedule: we anticipate picture lock by late fall, with grading to commence shortly thereafter and continue for approximately 4-6 weeks. This is a deferred compensation role, offering points in the film plus a deferred fee upon sale. We're a small, dedicated production company, and we'll provide all necessary project files and media management. Looking forward to seeing your work!
