Doc Production Designer, Partnership Opportunity
We're exploring the surprising world of competitive dog grooming, where artistry meets intense competition, and we need a talented Production Designer to help us tell this story visually. This independent documentary follows a few top groomers as they prepare for the national championship, capturing their passion, the intricate work, and the emotional stakes. As Production Designer, you'll be responsible for scouting and dressing locations, identifying and sourcing props, and developing the overall aesthetic to enhance the narrative and character journeys. We're looking for someone who can bring a cohesive, authentic look to our interviews and b-roll, transforming spaces to reflect the unique personalities and environments of our subjects. This will involve working closely with the director to achieve the desired tone, which is often intimate and sometimes quirky. We're seeking someone with experience, but are open to passionate newcomers with a strong eye and portfolio. You should have access to your own basic toolkit, and transportation is essential for getting to various locations around Los Angeles. Please provide a reel or portfolio showcasing your previous work, especially anything with a documentary or character-driven focus. Shoot dates are flexible but will primarily occur around October 10, 2026, and extend for about 3-4 weeks on and off. Prep work would begin sooner, around September 1, 2026. This is a partnership opportunity, offering a revenue share in the project, which we believe will find a strong audience. We'll provide a small budget for materials and props, and cover travel expenses to locations.
