Prod. Designer, Feature Film, New Orleans
Our independent production is seeking a dedicated Production Designer to join our team for an upcoming feature film. This project is a character-driven drama with elements of magical realism, exploring themes of memory and loss against the unique backdrop of New Orleans. We're looking for someone creative who can help us define the visual world of our story, blending gritty reality with subtle fantastical elements. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build their portfolio on a compelling narrative. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Director to develop the overall visual style, overseeing set decoration, props, and location dressing. You'll be instrumental in creating mood boards, sourcing materials, and supervising a small art department team. While we don't expect you to bring a full personal kit of tools, familiarity with standard art department equipment and software (e.g., Photoshop, SketchUp for basic concepts) is a plus. We welcome all experience levels, from emerging designers eager for their first feature to seasoned pros. Please submit a resume and a link to your portfolio or reel showcasing your aesthetic. Prep will begin in September 2026, with principal photography scheduled for approximately 3-4 weeks in October 2026. This is a paid position, offering $150-300 per day, dependent on experience and role scope. We'll provide a budget for set dressing, props, and art supplies. Standard 10-12 hour days are anticipated during the shoot, with more flexible hours during prep. Local hires to New Orleans are strongly preferred.
